Multisim Technological Innovation Forum in Guatemala

Last week I had the honor of participating in Technological Innovation Forum , organized by the Universidad Galileo in Guatemala .

In this event students from different races and Electronics, Mechatronics, Telecommunications Systems and universities had the opportunity to learn new technologies and even gain practical experience by participating in a series of workshops.

Some of the topics at this event included: efficient use of energy, robotics, scalable Internet systems, microcontrollers, automation, and of course, circuit simulation.

For my part I opportunity to give two talks related to the use of circuit simulation for the electronic design process, how to improve the simulation results, and also conducted two workshops on the use of Multisim for programmable logic design tool NI ELVIS II prototyping circuit.

I love participating in these events because I can understand the concerns of students and teachers. In fact, since I was a student always tried to attend forums, conferences and everything connected with the industry to keep technology updated emerging.

Sweep Analysis in Multisim CD

Sweep Analysis in Multisim CD is used to calculate the bias point of a circuit over a range of values. That is, Multisim circuit simulation repeatedly sweeping CD values \u200b\u200bwithin a predetermined range.

To find out more detail Sweep Analysis in Multisim CD will use it as a tool to chart the behavior of a Zener diode:

The above circuit is a simple Zener regulator diode which maintains a constant output although the current through the switch. In this case, the 1N4462 diode has a Zener voltage (Vz) of 7.5V and a tolerance of 5%. The input values \u200b\u200bminimum and maximum voltage that can be regulated by this diode is 7.41 V and 26.41 V, respectively.

In Multisim we select Simulate >> An Alisis >> Sweep CD ... and configuring the test parameters as follows:

This indicates that we are going to vary V1 (independent source) from 0 V to 40 V in increments of 1 V. button Filter Change can deploy advanced variables (ie nodes within a BJT model). There is also the option of adding a second independent source, it is useful to perform a nested sweep.

Now go to the tab output and add V (2) , the voltage at node 2 as the selected variable Analysis:

We button Simulate for analysis:

From the above figure we can see that the output is stable around 7.5 V, which is the nominal Zener voltage of the 1N4462. We can also see that the range of work is consistent with Zener diode as provided herein.

In the next post will use again Sweep Analysis in Multisim CD to trace the characteristic curves of a MOSFET.
