Capacitance and Inductance Measurements in Multisim

I began to organize some files on my PC and I found two circuits in Multisim that a while ago a colleague shared with me. Circuits is to measure the capacitance and inductance of components.

In Multisim not have a meter to measure L and C, but there are some techniques you can use to achieve that goal. I will not give specific details of the techniques used in these circuits, but rather I will focus on how to use them in Multisim. To download these circuits gives click here.

Inductance Meter

multisim

inducers to measure the circuit figure above is sufficient to connect to the terminals 1 and 2 of the AC power source. As shown in the figure, we have a 1 mH inductor, then run the simulation in Multisim will see displayed the result (in Henries) on the voltmeter.

can also make combinations of inductors, for example, if we have the following inductors in parallel: L1 = 1 mH, L2 = 5.5 mH, L3 = 615 uH. The result would be:

multisim

such 0,356 mH as indicated by the simulation result.

Capacitance Meter

In this case the capacitance meter circuit is more complex (even used a subcircuit). This circuit works best for capacitances of the order of micro farads. Basically connect the capacitor or capacitors according to the terminals C _P and C_N respectively. The result is displayed on the voltmeter but in terms of farads.

Here t see another example in Multisim:

There are different techniques to make such measurements, but what is important to remember is

we simulated, so the results are approximate.

Fernando
